The Breeder is pleased to present “The Oblong Series”, an exhibition with editions by Jannis Varelas. There are two series of works, Bob and Apple Head, with the first being an edition of 10 and the latter an edition of 100 variations. Jannis Varelas has worked on each multiple with drawing, painting or collage and in this way each one of them ends up being a unique work of art. There is also the series of furniture that Varelas has designed (each piece is an edition of 6). Jannis Varelas was born in 1977 and is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts and the Royal College of Art in London. He has participated in the 1st Athens Biennial “Destroy Athens” (curated by XYZ) in 2007, in the 1st International Art Biennial in the city of New Orleans in 2008 that was curated by Dan Cameron and the Cairo Biennial in 2010. In 2011, he was nominated for the DESTE prize. His solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center of Cincinnati in Ohio is due to open next spring. In 2013 Jannis Varelas will also participate in the exhibition “The Power of Paper” with works from the Saatchi Collection at Saatchi Gallery in London.
