True Romance

July 5, 2007–August 4, 2007
The Breeder, Athens

For the exhibition TRUE ROMANCE, THE BREEDER gallery has allotted its space to artists
Irini Miga, Alexandros Tzannis & Jannis Varelas, who are presenting works by young Greek and foreign artists from their generation. The exhibition deals with the notion of romanticism, described by the team as an intention that, without having a morphological coherence, is set on notions of absolutism, devotion, mystical complexity, but also on a private, almost autistic sense, of formalistic persistence.

The exhibition TRUE ROMANCE includes drawings, paintings, sculpture, posters, photographs and collages. The selection is not based on any particular curatorial practice, but came up in the context of an associational totalitarianism, more specifically as a free choice that was only set by a complex but clear point of view, a prismatic, perhaps, point that tends to accentuate mainly on the way things may appear, rather on how they really are.
