Xmas Party: The Callas Live, New Years Eve Party: Leigh Bowery: Ten Years After!
Lakis and Aris Ionas are going to present their concept work, titled “Superman died yesterday”, at the Breeder gallery, from December the 24th to December the 30th. At the opening night, December the 24th, Lakis and Aris are going to introduce The Callas, their band. They are going to perform live on a specially made stage their own Rock n Roll tunes. Lakis and Aris construct the stage themselves and they present it as an installation. The parts of the installation are deriving from many aspects of the Greek reality, combining experiences from the Geek traditional fairs and the punk-glam-pop-garage-mod-D.I.Y groove of the seventies.
The artists don’t care about any specific form or technique, they weather through the restrictions posed by musical knowledge and they are experimenting with their mistakes, they are flirting with a potential failure and at the same time, they realize a teenage dream: They are playing in a band.
As musical personas, they create myths, the enjoy their 15 minutes of fame and they make a connection between the artist and the musical idol, and, furthermore making a comment on the art’s star system.
