Iva Lulashi
Now Representing
July 21, 2026–The Breeder, Athens
The Breeder is delighted to announce the representation of Iva Lulashi (b. 1988, Tirana, Albania; lives and works in Milan), whose painting practice explores the intersections of desire, memory, and political history. Drawing from archival photographs, cinema, television, and personal imagery, Lulashi creates atmospheric compositions in which intimate encounters become inseparable from the visual languages of ideology. Her paintings revisit the imagery of communist Albania alongside references to mythology and folklore, revealing how collective narratives continue to shape personal experience. Characterized by a soft, luminous palette and blurred, cinematic surfaces, her works dissolve the boundaries between memory and fiction, inviting viewers into spaces where history is felt through emotion as much as through image. Through painting, Lulashi examines the persistence of political and cultural memory while affirming the power of desire and imagination as sites of resistance and transformation.
Iva Lulashi (b. 1988, Tirana, Albania) moved to Italy in 1997 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She lives and works in Milan. In 2024, she represented Albania at the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale with Love as a Glass of Water.
