D.Daskalopoulos Collection Gift to the National Galleries of Scotland

The National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh have received three works from the D. Daskalopoulos Collection, including a work by Greek artist Margarita Myrogianni.
The gift forms part of a major donation of 51 works of contemporary art from the D. Daskalopoulos Collection to four leading museums in Greece and Scotland. Among the works donated is Myrogianni’s Self-Portrait, 2011.
The inclusion of Myrogianni’s work in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland reflects the D. Daskalopoulos Collection’s longstanding commitment to supporting and promoting Greek artists within international museum collections, and further contributes to the visibility of contemporary Greek art on the international art scene.
Margarita Myrogianni is a visual artist. She studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, at Vakalo School of Art and Design and at Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Her solo and group exhibitions include Jewellery Was Never Innocent by THE GREAT DESIGN DISASTER (Milan); Transmutation at The Breeder Gallery (Athens); CONSTRUCTIONS at Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery (Athens); Volatile at the Holy Trinity Church (Vienna); Short Lines and Tall Shapes at the Rosegger-Grundschule (Berlin); a.O. – b.c. (after Olympics – before crisis) at the State of Concept (Athens); UN/FASHION, 1st Athens Fashion Film Festival at the Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall (Athens); Pair Production at the New Court Gallery (Derbyshire); and Towards Tinos, Cultural Foundation of Tinos (Tinos). She has collaborated on artistic and research projects with institutions including the Acropolis Museum, the British Museum, Benaki Museum, the Museum of Cycladic Art and the National Theatre of Greece.
