The Breeder
Frieze New York 2016

May 4, 2016–May 8, 2016
Randall's Island, New York

The Breeder is pleased to participate at Frieze NY 2016, showing works by Andreas Angelidakis, Matthew F. Fisher, Andreas Lolis, Scott Myles, Angelo Plessas, Mindy Shapero, Jannis Varelas, Guy Yanai.

At Frieze New York 2016 The Breeder will present MonumentGenerator.com by Angelo Plessas. In a reversed procedure, Plessas has create a website online and a real life booth version of it at the fair.

The configuration of the booth will consist of elements that will be rearranged each day of the fair in the same manner that an internet user can interact with MonumentGenerator.com if he used a drag and drop tool on his/her computer, creating new monuments. Angelo Plessas concept and design of The Breeder booth is re- evaluating perceptions of viewing art on the web and in real life and vise versa.

We live in a time when the memory of significant events expires in a few days, at most weeks. We are Paris, we are Brussels, then suddenly we love Zaha. Gone are the days of physical monuments commemorating temporalities, gone is any kind of long term memory, today it’s hashtags and profile pic filters that get boring real quick. MonumentGenerator.com, click and a monument is there, click again and it’s replaced by the next.
