Stelios Karamanolis
The Breeder x Hilton

March 1, 2018–March 30, 2018
Hilton, Athens

THE BREEDER gallery presents the work of Stelios Karamanolis at Aethrion for the project THE BREEDER x HILTON.

Using a visual vocabulary of minimal repetitive lines, shapes and symbols Stelios Karamanolis paints dreamlike scenes on raw canvas revealing a strong poetic disposition. Drawing inspiration from Egyptian hieroglyphs and Greek folk art but also from 60s comics his work renders a feeling of mysticism, history and spirituality. His lines often extend beyond the canvas, bleeding into the surrounding walls to create ethereal wallpaintings.

Karamanolis (b. 1977 Athens, Greece) lives and works in Athens and Berlin. He is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Art and the Hildesheim University in Germany.
