Zoi Gaitanidou
The Breeder x Vezené

February 1, 2018–March 30, 2018
Vezené, Athens

THE BREEDER x VEZENE presents Zoi Gaitanidou with a series of new works on canvas.

Gaintinadou employs dense embroidery and pastel to create her tropical visions, dense in foliage and abstract patterns. Engaging with her medium on an intimate level she sews directly onto the canvas, piercing its surface with her needle. Her works can be seen as reflections on the changing states of the mind and the process it takes to reach a sense of clarity.
Zoi Gaitanidou (b. 1981, Athens, Greece) is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts and she lives in Athens. She has participated in The Equilibrists (2016) at the Benaki Museum in Athens which was organized by The New Museum, NY and DESTE Foundation, Athens and was curated by Gary Carrion Murayari, Helga Christophensen with Massimiliano Gioni and in the 2nd Athens Biennial Heaven / Hotel Paradies (2009) curated by Nadja Argyropoulou. Her work is included in Younger Than Jesus, an artist directory selected by the curatorial team of the New Museum and published by Phaidon.

THE BREEDER x VEZENÉ collaboration brings together two dynamic representatives of contemporary Greek culture, that although are in different fields share a common philosophy, vision and creativity. For this synergy artists and artistic projects curated by THE BREEDER gallery, create site- specific interventions at VEZENÉ restaurant, enhancing the culinary experience with contemporary art.
