Creative Cities Talk | Will Athens Become the New Art Capital of Europe?

June 15, 2019–June 15, 2019
Art Basel

After all the events of the past decade – from the financial crisis to the increase of refugees seeking shelter in Europe, and even the 14th edition of Documenta – what is happening in Athens? Many artists have moved to the Greek capital, attracted by the affordability and the good weather. But skeptics keep saying that the city’s resurgence will be short-lived. In this panel, we will discuss the cultural developments in Athens with some key members of its vibrant art scene.

George Vamvakidis, Co-founder, Breeder Gallery, Athens
Marina Fokidis, Curator and Writer, Director of South as a State of Mind Magazine, Athens
Angelo Plessas, Artist, and Founder of P.E.T Projects, Athens

Conversations is programmed by Berlin-based artist and e-flux co-director Julieta Aranda.
