February 19, 2016–February 19, 2016
Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens

The Onassis Cultural Center and The Breeder invite you to Jannis Varelas’ performance “Νew Flags For a New Country/ Destroying Elvis” on Friday February 19th at 20.00 at the Upper Stage of the Onassis Cultural Center, Athens.

At 21:00 discussion with Jannis Varelas and Marina Fokidis, independent curator and writer, head of the artistic office, documenta 14, Athens.

A bear, a rabbit, an anchor, a banana and a caterpillar are perpetually working on a production line whose result is never revealed. Janis Varelas with direct references to the revolutionary theater of the 50s and 60s in San Francisco and especially to the work of Ronnie Davis and San Francisco Mime Troupe, but also to the narrative structures of the theater of the absurd, is presenting a universe whose characters seem to have resurrected from his paintings.
