Rade Petrasevic
The Breeder x The Twenty One

March 1, 2018–April 30, 2018
The Twenty One, Kifisia, Athens

THE BREEDER presents works by the rising Austrian artist Rade Petrasevic at THE TWENTY ONE RESTAURANT & BAR.

Rade Petrasevic’s paintings preserve a fascinating straightness. They are immediate, strong, and the intense, almost frantic brush strokes resemble a marker on paper. We can draw many conclusions from the objects that surround a person. And that is exactly what fascinates Rade Petrasevic and negotiates his work. Modernist chairs, framed photos, paintings, ancient Greek sculptures, vases and mementos reveal the imaginary surroundings of an artwork collector. The spectator observes the scene while the protagonist is absent and is trying to guess the owner of the collection. In this way the visualization of the interiors are mutated into a Portrait.

Born in Vienna in 1982, Rade Petrasevic holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, as well as from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Israel. He has exposed his work in major international institutions including 21er Haus museums, Belvedere, Schaulager and Secession in Vienna and Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles (MOCA).
