The Breeder Magazine Issue 9

In 2002, we set out to launch an art gallery
driven by the need to create an artistic dialogue
between Athens and the world. Sometimes
radical, occasionally political and always on
the pulse of Athens’ ever-evolving art scene, we
are housed in a masterfully renovated former
ice cream factory. Often credited with helping
lay the foundations of Athens’ contemporary
art scene, we are always discovering, pushing,
showcasing and promoting a rich diversity of
talent without boundaries and then projecting
it for the world to see. Not many people know,
however, that The Breeder started life as a
magazine for two years before the idea of a
gallery blossomed. This magazine was called
The Breeder Magazine and we made 8 issues
in a square box. Did we know where this was
leading us? No!
25 years later, we are delighted to present to
you issue 9 of that magazine, which will now
become our editorial platform. Reimagined
and re-art directed for today, this box will be
published annually, immersing you in
The Breeder’s projects, artists and activities.
