Panos Profitis
Κωμωδια/Comoedia Prelude

May 11, 2023–August 31, 2023
The Breeder Atrium

The Breeder is pleased to present Panos Profitis’ site specific installation Κωμωδία/Comoedia. As a prelude of his upcoming exhibition at the gallery in September 2023, Profitis takes over one of the building’s atriums to transform it into a contemporary Dantian purgatory which is inhabited by his sculpture “Herald”. Profitis’ work reflects on our earthly experience at present time, maintaining a vibrant dialogue with Dante’s Divine Comedy, the Aristophanic work, but also with Gustave Dore’s engravings, religious art, utopian philosophy (Tomas More, Lewis Mumford, Adorno), as well as with Brecht’s comic allusions, raising questions around the role of the creator and internal conflict.
